The Netherlands Conquers Most Important Creative Conference in the World

South by Southwest

This is the first time that the Dutch creative industry will be a part of the official programming of the South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference & Festivals, the world’s most important event when it comes to technology, music and film. Dutch internet companies and designers present themselves to the 60.000+ conference visitors from more than 100 countries, at the trade show as well as in a special Dutch program.

SXSW is an annual festival and congress about music, film and technology, taking place in Austin, Texas, for the 28th time from March 7-16, 2014. More than 2000 artists from over 50 different countries will perform on 100+ stages, among who have been world-class stars like Jay-Z, Prince and Bruce Springsteen. Over the past years, SXSW has turned into a launching platform for successful internet companies like Twitter and Foursquare. The magazine Fortune called SXSW ‘the single best place in the creative innovation world to build relationships and get to know people.’

SXSW-NL

A team of Dutch companies in the music industry, creative industry and corporate life is composing a program called SXSW-NL, in collaboration with the organizers of SXSW, in which the Netherlands wants to be promoted as a leader in innovation and creativity.

In its own Dutch Base, a group of Dutch artists, DJs, designers and internet entrepreneurs will organize a varied program, consisting of corporate presentations, hackathons, networking events, meetings with international guests, live webcasts, performances and two evenings dedicated to Dutch dance music. 2014 is the first year in which these events will be an official part of the prestigious program of SXSW.

The Netherlands will also have its own stand, the Dutch Booth, during the SXSW trade show. The Dutch Booth will be occupied by Dutch designers selected by the Dutch fund for stimulating the creative industries (Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie), and promising Dutch internet companies – among which many young startups. What’s new is that these designers and companies can take part in the exclusive Platinum Connection program where the organizers of SXSW will perform as matchmakers and make relevant introductions with other participating companies and organizations.
